So, the big news I mentioned previously, YAY it’s finally time to share!! You may know that each month I design exclusive die cuts and stamp sets for Creative Retreat embellishment kit club. Well, I recently had the opportunity to purchase the company, and I took a leap of faith and pounced on it! I am so excited to share the new site (www.creativeretreatkits.com) and the great changes we’re making!
Either way, you can continue to follow Project Faith™ right here at DYD and enjoy FREE weekly pocket card downloads! This week’s Project Faith™ was inspired by the beautiful song “Oceans.” I chose some of my favorite lyrics from the song to create a pair of pocket cards. I love this diagonal color block look, and I’m thrilled with the way these turned out!
I hope they inspire you this week to be lead by the Spirit wherever He would call you. Click the image below to download!
The April collection is available NOW at Creative Retreat! Die cuts and stamp set from DYD plus precious Freckled Fawn wood veneers and washi tape, navy blue alpha sticker set, vellum arrows, and Studio Calico gold enamel dots. This month’s kit was inspired by the new signs of spring – fresh colors, watercolor skies and windy days. I just love the way it came together!
Prefer the digital version? It’s available here in my guest store at Scrap Stacks and 20% off all weekend! Plus the coordinating journal cards, too…
This month’s Creative Retreat kit combines sweet and sassy embellishments with an airy color palette for a wonderful addition to your spring layouts… Plus everything is perfectly sized for pocket scrapbooking!
The clear stickers are great for overlaying on photos or right onto the page itself.
The oh-so-versatile stamp set will go great with any pocket page layout:
And the flair is a precious nod to the warmth that Spring brings:
Here’s a look at a layout Sandra Przybylska created using the March embellishment kit. The way Sandra layers her pocket cards, photos, embellishments and paint is absolutely brilliant!
But Sandra didn’t stop there! Here’s a peek at the beginnings of a mini album she created with the March kit as well:
Tela and I had a blast designing and curating this kit for you. We hope you have just as much fun working with it!
We love to see your work so be sure to upload your projects to The Pocket Source gallery and tag them with Danielle Young Designs and Creative Retreat kits so we can see what you create!
Last week, I revealed Creative Retreat’s February collection – my favorite CR kit to date! This week, I thought it would be fun to share a peek of my design notebook with you.
Tela is the owner & mastermind behind Creative Retreat; she puts the gorgeous kits together each month. Once we choose a color scheme, I grab my notebook and start scribbling some ideas. It may look like chicken scratch, but there are also some specific concepts that emerge.
Once I have my rough concepts drawn out, I head to the computer. Adobe Illustrator, of course, is my go-to. All of my die cuts, stamp sets, and journal cards are designed exclusively in Illustrator. From there, I refine and improve my original concepts on the screen before printing them out to check their sizing. From paper to computer then back to paper…
I hope you’ve enjoyed this peek into my design process! Questions? Ask away!

Our little family of three took a wonderful beach vacation this summer. We had the greatest time! Most of our days were spent enjoying the breeze under our beach umbrellas and watching little man run to the ocean and back! I finally got around to completing one of my Project Life vacation spreads today, which captures exactly that. I am still learning how to photograph my pages, too. A bigger challenge than I had previously thought… With a little practice, I hope to have it down to a science so I can share even more of my PL with you!
Most of my pages are photo-heavy, and I work in a few journal cards here and there. For this spread, I didn’t do any journaling and just let the fun, bright colors tell the story! I used a few elements from Creative Retreat’s August Kit (die cuts designed by me for Creative Retreat) as well as my own Shine On (sunshine, everyday smiles cards), Best Job Ever (yellow polka dot), and On the Go (multi-colored stripes) cards. Page Protectors are Becky Higgins Design A and K.
The left hand page is one big photo with a handwritten title to balance the busier, colorful side.
How do you record your travels? Do you keep a separate mini album or do you make it a part of your yearly Project Life?
